Linden JOBS (TANF)
Linden JOBS (TANF- Temporary Assistance for Needy Families) is funded by the Virginia Department of Social Services. This innovative project is designed specifically to help TANF participants with disabilities obtain and maintain employment. Linden JOBS is a collaborative project between the Arlington County Department of Human Services and Linden Resources, Inc.
Creating and enhancing employment opportunities, personal successes, and economic independence of TANF participants with disabilities.
Linden JOBS is a free service to assist TANF-recipients with employment goals and future success. Individuals are most likely eligible for the Linden JOBS program if they are receiving or have received TANF benefits, have or suspect having a disability, and would like to obtain employment.
If you are interested in participating in the Linden JOBS program, speak with your VIEW worker and they will make the necessary referral to get you started.
Upon entering the program, you will have the opportunity to benefit from individualized services that will help you focus on getting and keeping the job you want. The services include, but are not limited to:
Counseling and guidance
Job seeking skills training
Interviewing skills training
Job retention services
Personal and professional skills development
You will work one-on-one with a Linden JOBS workforce specialist to choose the services that will be most beneficial to you to help you obtain and retain employment and increase economic self-sufficiency.
Your First Meeting
At your first meeting, your Linden JOBS workforce specialist will talk with you about your career interests, your skills and abilities, your previous work experience, and any barriers that have interfered with your ability to get and keep a job.
You will be asked to allow Linden to obtain disability and medical information about you. This information is necessary for Linden JOBS to work with you. To speed up the process, please bring any of the following information you have to your first meeting:
Medical reports or other pertinent documents related to your disability
The names, addresses, and phone numbers of your doctors and therapists
The names of any medications you are currently taking
Your Employment Plan
Your Linden JOBS workforce specialist will work with you to create goals and establish a career plan. The plan will include your employment and personal goals and the services you need to achieve those goals. You will also develop a resume and a cover letter, participate in interview preparation, and receive job search assistance.

Your Linden JOBS workforce specialist will also work with you in the following areas:
Assist with personal development and overcoming barriers to employment
Help strengthen job seeking skills
Provide coaching and career guidance
