History

Linden Resources was founded in 1959 as the Sheltered Occupational Center of Northern Virginia by a group of Arlington parents who wanted to create meaningful job opportunities for their adult children with disabilities. At that time, people with severe disabilities had limited work and community living options and were more likely to be confined to an institution or their homes than to be employed. Starting in a small storefront, Linden provided simple assembly and packaging work for a handful of individuals.

Now, 50 years later, Linden Resources has grown it’s businesses to include two successful commercial ventures — a full service printing, copying and hand assembly business and a warehousing fulfillment and distribution center – and multiple government contract operations, plus job placement and staffing programs for community businesses.  In all, Linden employs and provides vocational services for more than 250 people with disabilities every year.

Linden is CARF accredited at the highest level of three years, is an approved Ability One vendor and is a licensed provider of services through the Virginia Department of Rehabilitative Services.  We partner with Northern Virginia Community Service Boards, the Virginia Department of Health and Human Services, other non-profit organizations and agencies to achieve our mission and advance our strategic goals to expand employment opportunities for people with disabilities.
