WHAT’S IN A NAME AND A TREE?
Linden Trees have heart-shaped leaves that, for us, symbolize our heart-felt passion for helping people with disabilities to reach their full work potential. At times those heart-shaped leaves grow upside down, yet the tree is strong, healthy and vibrant. Like our employees with disabilities, sometimes they may do the job just a little differently, but they always get the job done.
At Linden Resources, we work to make sure the environment is supportive and nurturing for people with disabilities to reach their potential. Our name and the Linden tree exemplify our commitment. The Linden tree specifically represents transformation and hidden inner strength. Like the people we serve who may require extra support, encouragement or unique accommodations to perform their jobs, when a Linden tree is first planted, it often requires extra nurturing until the tree is rooted and able to thrive. Linden trees are strong and grow well in rich soil.
WHAT EXCEEDING EXPECTATIONS MEANS
It’s written into our mission: To expand employment opportunities for people with disabilities while exceeding the expectations of our customers. More importantly, the people with disabilities that we serve, who work for Linden Resources and for our customers, who demonstrate continuous resourcefulness and a focused determination to succeed in their jobs, are the very people that make it possible for Linden Resources to deliver outstanding results and business solutions and exceed the expectations of our customers.
WHAT ARE OUR ROOTS?
Linden Resources was founded in 1959 as a 501(c)3 nonprofit to provide meaningful employment opportunities for people with disabilities. In our first year, Linden Resources employed 26 individuals with disabilities. Since that time, Linden Resources has grown to employ, provide job placement and other innovative services and programs to serve each year nearly 400 individuals with intellectual, physical and mental health disabilities, and wounded warrior veterans. In order to fulfill our mission, Linden Resources operates 16 federal contracts and provides contact centers, copying/assembly/mail, fulfillment, and secure document destruction for government and commercial clients.
Linden Resources is accredited by The Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF International) at the highest level of three years, is an approved Ability One vendor and is a licensed provider of services through the Virginia Department for Aging and Rehabilitative Services, DC Rehabilitation Services Administration, and Maryland Division of Rehabilitation Services. We partner with Northern Virginia Community Service Boards, the Virginia Department of Health and Human Services, other non-profit organizations and agencies to achieve our mission and advance our strategic goals to expand employment opportunities for people with disabilities.
